PrepWise Privacy Policy

PrepWise helps users create meal plans, grocery lists, preparation guidance, and estimated store comparisons.

Information we process

PrepWise processes email address, authentication identifiers, ZIP code, household size, budget, dietary preferences, saved meal plans, favorites, weekly feature usage, subscription status, support messages, and limited request diagnostics. Passwords are hashed by the authentication service and are not stored in readable form.

How information is used

Information is used to generate meal plans, personalize recipes, create grocery lists, provide subscription access, restore purchases, respond to support requests, protect the service, and improve reliability.

Service providers

Convex provides authentication and database storage. Stripe processes web subscriptions. Vercel hosts the web application. Meal and ingredient information may be sent to OpenAI for AI-generated preparation guidance. Official YouTube Data API metadata may be used to find public cooking videos and link users to the original creator. Recipe, nutrition, mapping, and store requests may also be processed by Spoonacular, Edamam, Google Maps or Places, RapidAPI, and other enabled infrastructure providers. Optional Tasty and Instacart scraper integrations are disabled unless commercial use is separately approved.

Use of YouTube features is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.

Purchases

Stripe processes web payments and Apple processes App Store payments. PrepWise receives customer or transaction identifiers, product identifiers, subscription state, renewal state, expiration information, and refund or revocation events needed to provide paid access. PrepWise does not receive full payment-card details.

Analytics and diagnostics

PrepWise uses PostHog for limited product analytics, including account-flow outcomes, meal-plan generation, feature-limit events, paywall and test-billing interactions, return visits, page usage, and mobile viewport characteristics. Autocapture and session replay are disabled, and PrepWise does not intentionally send email addresses, passwords, ZIP codes, names, meal contents, or payment-card data to PostHog.

PrepWise uses Sentry for browser and server error monitoring and limited performance diagnostics. Sentry may receive error messages, stack traces, request routes, release information, device or browser characteristics, and a PrepWise user identifier after sign-in. Sending default personally identifiable information is disabled. The server also records request path, response status, duration, and a salted one-way client fingerprint for security, rate limiting, and reliability.

Retention and deletion

Local guest data remains on the device until removed by the user. Account data is retained while the account is active. Users can initiate deletion from Account in the app, which deletes PrepWise cloud records and requests deletion of the linked Stripe customer. Stripe, Apple, hosting providers, and other processors may retain limited transaction, fraud-prevention, tax, backup, or legal records as required by law or their policies.

Your choices

Users can enable a browser's Do Not Track preference, change preferences, withdraw optional permissions, sign out, manage or cancel web subscriptions through the Stripe customer portal, cancel App Store subscriptions in Apple settings, or delete their account. PostHog is configured to respect Do Not Track. Web account deletion cancels the linked Stripe customer relationship and resets the local analytics identity. Apple subscriptions must still be cancelled through Apple.

Nutrition and allergens

Nutrition, allergens, ingredients, costs, and retailer information are estimates and are not medical advice. Always verify labels and consult an appropriate professional for medical or dietary needs.
